Solutions of Hickory

Linda Watts, MS, LPA, HSP-PA

Ms. Linda Watts is psychologist at Solutions of Hickory, PA. She graduated from Freedom High School in 1999. From there, she attended Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in three years, and discovered her passion for people through psychology. She continued her studies in Louisville, Kentucky where she obtained her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University. Her formal education has been enhanced by work experience in a variety of educational, government, and clinical settings to include private and community colleges, Kentucky Departments of Corrections and Social Services, and private and non-profit outpatient psychotherapy services.

Ms. Watts' professional experiences have given her the opportunity to work with all populations (children, adolescents, and adults) through a number of modalities such as individual, marital, family, and group psychotherapy, with experience treating a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, adjustment concerns, and relational difficulties. She especially enjoys working with teens and their families as they navigate the developmental challenges of increasing autonomy, as well as adults who are struggling with major life transitions and decisions. Within the last two years, Ms. Watts has also taken a special interest in eating behaviors and has completed advanced training in this area. She has developed expertise with individuals struggling with maladaptive eating behaviors, including emotional eating, obesity, and/or disorders such as bulimia. Ms. Watts also completes pre-surgical assessments as required for many procedures (surgical weight loss and spinal cord implantation), for which she can also provide short-term, behaviorally-focused treatment to increase postoperative success. Additionally, she is experienced in the psychological assessment of developmental delays, ADHD, learning disabilities, custody evaluations, active-duty fitness, and dementia. A specialized psychological assessment area is Differential Diagnostic Assessment for which she has expertise with both standardized and projective measures utilized to assess the personality and emotional functioning of children and adults. This form of assessment is not only highly beneficial for diagnostic clarification purposes but also treatment planning purposes as the batteries provide critical information that can be clinically utilized by mental health treatment professionals as they begin and/or continue their work with individuals. The evaluations highlight areas of concern and more clearly identify appropriate goals and course of treatment. The data from these diagnostic psychological assessments can also be utilized by medical practitioners in the identification of symptoms and diagnoses which respond to psychotropic medications.
